The trend

What is the Ozil goal AI trend?

The trend recreates Mesut Özil’s famous solo goal against Ludogorets in the 2016 Champions League: he ran onto a long ball, chipped the goalkeeper, let two defenders slide past him on the goal line and then calmly rolled it into the empty net.

On TikTok people use AI to put themselves, their friends, their dog or even a Minecraft villager in Özil’s place. The clip keeps the beats of the goal (chip, two missed slide tackles, cheeky tap-in) with a new face scoring it.

Ozil AI makes it from a single photo. The AI redraws our own re-enactment of the goal, made with invented players in plain kits, so it uses no match footage, no club kits and no badges. Read the story of the original Ozil goal vs Ludogorets.

  • The run

Sprint at the keeper with the ball at your feet

  • The chip

Lift it over the goalkeeper as he rushes out

  • The slides

Two defenders slide in on the line and miss

  • The finish

Wait a beat, then tap it into the empty net

FAQ

Ozil goal AI questions

What is the Ozil goal AI trend?

+

It’s a TikTok trend where people use AI to recreate Mesut Özil’s 2016 Champions League goal against Ludogorets with themselves or a friend as the scorer: run at the keeper, chip it over him, let two defenders slide past on the line, then tap it into the empty net.

Is the Ozil goal AI generator free?

+

There’s no free tier, because every video costs real money to generate. Packs start at $4.99 for 100 credits: two 480p videos (about $2.50 each) or one 720p video. No subscription, and if a video fails your credits are refunded automatically.

How long does it take?

+

About 4 minutes per video. You can leave the page; your video will be waiting in My videos.

Can I use my dog, my cat or a cartoon avatar?

+

Not yet. The generator is tuned for people: with a pet photo the animal only plays part of the goal. Use a full-body photo of one person for now.

What if I don’t look right in my video?

+

Every paid video comes with one free redo: tap “Free redo” under the finished video and the same photo is generated again at no cost. It works for 24 hours, while your photo is still stored.

Does it use the real match footage?

+

No. The AI redraws our own re-enactment of the goal, made with invented players in plain kits in a generic floodlit stadium, with you as the scorer. It contains no broadcast footage, club badges or competition branding. To watch the original goal, see our Ozil goal vs Ludogorets guide.

Is it safe? What happens to my photo?

+

Photos are used only to make your video and are deleted after 24 hours. We never use them to train models or share them.

Can I make one with someone else’s photo?

+

Only of an adult who agreed to it, and never of a celebrity, athlete or other public figure. You confirm this with a checkbox before every video. Photos of minors, sexual content and anything meant to harass or deceive are not allowed.

Is Ozil AI a face-swap or deepfake app?

+

No. It is an entertainment template with one fixed scene: our own AI re-enactment of a football goal, made with invented players. You can’t upload videos, write prompts or put anyone into real footage, and every video is labelled as AI-generated, in the player and inside the file.

Does the video include the sound?

+

Yes. Every video comes with the trend’s original sound, ready to post. On TikTok you can also pick the trend’s sound when you post, which puts your video on its sound page.

Is this made by Mesut Özil or Arsenal?

+

No. Ozil AI is an independent fan tool and is not affiliated with Mesut Özil, Arsenal FC or UEFA.

What photos work best?

+

A sharp full-body photo of one person, head to feet in frame, face clear and no sunglasses, in even light. The video uses your face, hair and outfit from the photo, so a selfie gives you a random kit. JPG, PNG and WebP photos (and photos straight from an iPhone) up to 4 MB work; avoid group shots and heavy filters.

What if my video fails or looks wrong?

+

If a video fails to generate, its credits are refunded automatically. AI football is not perfect: if the ball or the face looks off, try again with a sharper photo. Videos that generated successfully use their credits.

Can I use the video for ads or commercial work?

+

Videos are for personal, non-commercial use such as posting on your own social accounts. Don’t use them to advertise a product or to suggest that a player or club endorses anything.
